Faces of Hope: Jaquelyn Muller
Welcome to our Faces of Hope series where we feature a dedicated Fight Cancer Foundation supporter whose contributions help us fight cancer.
This month’s Face of Hope is Jaquelyn Muller. Jaquelyn is a children’s author whose first book ‘I Love You 5 Lollipops’ can be found in the library of John Opie House and is the perfect bedtime story for children aged 0 – 5.
How long have you been involved with Fight Cancer Foundation?
I’ve been involved with Fight Cancer Foundation for more than 12 years through the Red Ball Melbourne committee.
What do you do? (What does this involve/look like?)
Red Ball Committee Member: The committee reviews previous Red Ball results then makes decisions on venue, date, and theme and supports the creative director in planning and executing the event. Through their contacts the committee is able to source sponsors, prizes and help secure ticket sales.
How did you become involved?
I became involved through previous President and Founding Member Fay Duncan after hearing that Fight Cancer Foundation was looking for new people to join the Red Ball committee. I had experience in running events, but nothing of this size; however I felt that I could contribute with the skills and networks I had to offer.
Why do you choose to volunteer your time with Fight Cancer Foundation?
I choose to support Fight Cancer Foundation as many of us have been affected in some way by the devastation that cancer causes, so to think that you can help in some way to raise awareness and funds to combat this disease is very gratifying. What I didn’t expect however, is to find some of my closest friends. Through the committee, staff and sponsors I have been blessed to meet people that I now consider family. The foundation has given me just as much, if not more.
