Red Ball Melbourne - September 2022
Fight Cancer Foundation proudly held Red Ball Melbourne on Saturday 10 September in Palladium at Crown.
The night was hosted by One of Australia’s most respected actors, Jane Hall, who's career has spanned film, television and theatre for more than 30 years. Guests enjoyed bidding on a range of exciting silent auction items and participated in a trilling live auction. This was conducted by Head of The Agency Victoria and Chief Auctioneer, Peter Kakos and spruiked by one of Australia's most in demand presenters, Pete Lazer.
There were two incredible raffle prizes provided by The Hour Glass and Girard-Perregaux. First prize, a $27,400 GIRARD-PERREGAUX 1966 36MM Lady's watch (49524D11A171-CK6A) was won by Nell Awad. Second prize, a GIRARD-PERREGAUX 1966 Full Calendar (49535-11-131-11A) was won by Michelle De Koning.
Guests were treated to an extravagant circus performance by Southern Beat Productions, enjoyed the sounds of Craig Francis Music and danced the night away with Hayley Teal’s Sound System.

2019 - Our guests enjoyed a magnificent ‘Rock Popera’ main performance. The night was hosted by the wonderful Jo Stanley who was supported by charismatic MC Brodie Young.
2018 – Celebrating all things red, the evening was hosted by the wonderful Brodie Harper. Guests were treated to a show stopping performance of Whitney Houston's greatest hits from Paulini!
2017 – Red Ball Melbourne celebrated its 25th anniversary in style! Held at Palladium at Crown and hosted by crowd favourite Shane Jacobson, guests enjoyed a spectacular night out featuring entertainment by Trevor Ashley, Southern Beat Productions, Chelsi Nikkerud, Steve Sowden and EnSync.
2016 – Held at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne and with Fight Cancer Foundation patron Deborra-lee Furness in attendance, Red Ball Melbourne was hosted by icons Jennifer Hansen and Alan Fletcher. Guests were treated to a spectacular night of ice and fire inspired entertainment featuring Keenan Te, Leea Nanos, The Spicy Girls, Barry Conrad, the Chantoozies and a show-stopping performance by Queen of Pop, Marcia Hines.
2015 - Hosted by entertainment industry icon, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, our guests including Fight Cancer Foundation patrons Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman enjoyed a spectacular night of 1950s inspired entertainment, featuring Contempo, the cast of Dreamgirls and a show-stopping performance of “One Night Only” by Hugh Jackman.
2014 – Fight Cancer Foundation patron Deborra-lee Furness was a surprise guest at our 60s inspired Red Ball Melbourne. Hosting the evening was the incredible David Campbell, the event featured a very special performance from the Victorian cast of Hair – The Musical.
2013 – Our 21st birthday bash! Gold Logie award winning comedian Hamish Blake hosted our birthday spectacular which featured an ice-cream truck in the foyer of the Crown Palladium Ballroom, salsa dancers and a star studded red carpet. Fight Cancer Foundation mascot Bo Bear also hit the red carpet to celebrate the milestone occasion.
2012 – Transforming the Crown Palladium into a glittering Broadway Theatre, our 1200 guests were treated to a spectacular performance of ‘Back to Broadway’ from our patron Hugh Jackman. The highly entertaining Karl Stefanovic hosted the night’s festivities and Patrick Vaccariello was masterful in conducting the 21-piece orchestra.
2011 – “Le Bal du Rouge au Cirque” – our 19th Red Ball Melbourne saw us join the circus! The Big Top was transformed into a glittering five-star arena with a sublime three course dinner produced by the Atlantic Group. Our patron Deborra-lee Furness and Peter Mitchell hosted the event with thrilling entertainment from the Silvers Circus troupe.
2010 – ‘An Evening of Masquerade’ and an evening to remember. Guests looked fabulous in their flamboyant masks and enjoyed the commentary of hosts Sigrid Thornton and Paul O’Brien. The superb entertainment featured Frank-N-Furter and the Rocky Horror dancers performing the Time Warp backed by 200 dancers.
2009 - Another huge success hosted by our patron Deborra-lee Furness, the ‘Discorama’ theme at Crown Palladium took the event to a new level and included an amazing rendition of Thriller with over 120 dancers. Our audience was also treated to a wonderful performance featuring Grace Knight.
2008 - Fight Cancer Foundation patrons, Deborra-lee and Hugh Jackman hosted this year’s Red Ball Melbourne with a standout performance of ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’ finest works “Frank – A Life in Song” by Tom Burlinson.
2007 - Held at the glamorous water front Peninsula, Docklands, this special evening was hosted by Fight Cancer Foundation patrons, Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman. The highlight was Hugh’s emotional performance of ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ backed by a 30 piece orchestra.
2006 - The Crown Palladium Ballroom was transformed into a sensational Big Top with a memorable opening of Circus with the Stars. The stunning Alyce Platt entertained guests while they enjoyed exquisite food and non-stop dancing.
2005 - With the help of Todd McKenney, Vanessa Amorosi and a host of dancers and musicians, the Palladium Ballroom at Crown was brought to life through colour and excitement.
At the February 2022 ball, Popular television and radio host, comedian, actor, writer, and key-note speaker returned as host, having welcomed guests to the last event in 2019. Guests were entertained by the magnificent Anthony Callea and a wonderful French-style Cabaret, which wowed everyone with spectacular live entertainment amidst some of Melbourne’s finest food and wine.
Amazing Live and Silent Auction items were highly sought after, including luxury accommodation packages, sporting experiences, dining occasions, artwork, memorabilia and wine. The magnificent $51,200 Hublot, Unico King, Gold Ceramic Watch, courtesy of Hublot and The Hour Glass was raffles and won by Brydon Johnson of Blackburn North.
The magical amount of $350,00 was raised to enable Fight Cancer Foundation to continue to provide care, treatment and support for cancer patients and their families and to fund vital research into cancer treatments and cures.
