Running for Callum Thomas
In 2009, Callum was not even two years old when he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
The diagnosis was a devastating shock to Callum's Tasmanian based family. Callum required urgent treatment which required him be in Melbourne at The Royal Children’s Hospital.
While Callum received treatment - chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant - he and his family stayed at our North Melbourne Accommodation centre.
Sadly, in 2010 Callum lost his battle with cancer at just two years and nine months old. After the grief of losing Callum, his father Mitchell decided he would fundraise in Callum’s memory, with the goal of contributing to a cure of AML.
Eight years later Mitchell is as dedicated as ever and is still taking part in fun-runs and marathons to fundraise for a cure. In November he is tackling the Point to Pinnacle - the world’s toughest half-marathon.
Join Mitchell in making a difference in the fight against cancer – donate to his extraordinary effort today.
