Update on Daniel's Story
Last year, we shared the story of the Burn family and their fight against cancer.
At the age of three, Daniel was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and required many long months of life-saving treatment. Thanks to the support of our generous donors, Fight Cancer Foundation was able to provide the Burn family with comfortable accommodation close to Daniel’s treating hospital, relieving some of the financial and emotional burden caused by his illness.
It is now just over two years since Daniel was first diagnosed with leukaemia, and we are delighted to share that he continues to pass each review with flying colours.
"With the exception of one minor scare, we haven’t looked back. Daniel’s check-ups are now every two months, and every second appointment is via a telehealth connection, making life easier for our family as we live on a remote dairy farm,” said Jo, Daniel’s mother.
Daniel has been enjoying pre-school this year and is looking forward to the serious business of “big school” in 2018. The family have also been enjoying watching him return to full health in preparation for this next milestone.
While the Burn family were staying at one of Fight Cancer Foundation's accommodation centres, they welcomed a second child. Mitchell is now 21 months old and thriving.
Jo explains, "It is heart-warming to watch my boys growing up in their natural environment, living life like normal little boys.”
