Stories of hope help sick Tasmanians at The Little Red Luncheon
Inspirational speakers including AFL legend David Parkin and Tasmanian cancer survivor Vicki Francis will share their stories of hope to raise much-needed funds for seriously ill Tasmanians at Fight Cancer Foundations’ The Little Red Luncheon.
Held at the stunning Frogmore Creek Winery and attended by Her Excellency, Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AM, Governor of Tasmania, all proceeds raised will go to Fight Cancer Foundation’s Hobart accommodation centre John Opie House.
Guests will be joined by celebrity MC, ABC TV’s Peter Gee and will hear from David and Vicki while enjoying an exquisite lunch prepared by celebrated Frogmore Creek Winery Chef Ruben Koopman, with matched wines by Chief Winemaker Alain Rousseau.
A cancer survivor, David Park OAM will share his incredible story including his involvement with elite Australian Rules Football since 1961 as a player, coach, fitness advisor, administrator and media commentator.
David captained the 1971 Hawthorn premiership team and coached the 1978, 1981, 1982 and 1995 premiership teams, was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2010.
Tasmanian cancer survivor Vicki Francis will also share her horrific and inspiring journey which started with a back ache and ended up with an appendix operation, hysterectomy, ovarian cancer, chemotherapy, bowel resection and perforation.
Vicki’s story is one of resilience, horror, camaraderie and genuine warmth, where she found strength and a network of support at Fight Cancer Foundation’s John Opie House in Hobart.
Each year, John Opie House provides comfortable and affordable accommodation to hundreds of seriously ill regional Tasmanians and their families who must stay in Hobart to receive medical treatment.
The Little Red Luncheon is proudly sponsored by Southern Cross Austereo and Frogmore Creek Winery.
Shelley Temata from Frogmore Creek Winery says, “We’re delighted to support Fight Cancer Foundation.
